The Institute for Japanese Studies hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year. We also maintain a list of Japan-related events offered by other orangizations in Ohio on our calendar. Some of our programs occur annually, while others are one-time events. Our programs range from hosting Japanese studesnts and teachers, and arranging for them to study American culture, to lectures and seminars abouts a variety of topics related to Japan.

Constitutional revision in Japan
Security in East Asia and the U.S.

This symposium will explore the ways that the Constitution of Japan, and especially Article 9 (the war renunciation clause), has shaped postwar geopolitics in Asia, the current heated debate in Japan over changing the Constitution and resurgent nationalism, and the implication of constitutional revision for American security in East Asia and in the world.
